Fluency Suggestions

Each week your child will have a reading fluency passage in his/her fluency folder to practice.  Below are some suggestions to help your child become a more fluent reader:

1.  Set a timer for one minute and model reading the passage to your child.

2.  Set a timer for one minute and have your child read the passage to you.  Mark any errors he/she makes.

3.  Go back and read for one minute to your child and correct any errors he/she made while reading.

4.  Have your child read with siblings, to stuffed animals, pets, etc.

Each week your child will also have a Math fluency folder.  Your child is NOT expected to complete all problems within the folder. Please set a timer for 1 minute and have your child practice solving addition and subtraction problems.  The purpose of the Math fluency folders is to build knowledge of addition and subtraction facts.
